22€ Versele-laga which has a 12mths shelf life. For the number in my flock it works out cheaper than throwing out 2/3 of a bag because it's gone moldy!
12 month shelf life means it is good to purchase off the shelf for 12 months. Once the bag is opened and the feed exposed to air, it degrades just as fast as any other feed. But I've heard great things about the versele-laga brand.
I purchased a bag of growers pellets last week and paid €15.40 for it. (early in the season i was only paying €13.60) I had to go in today for other items and picked up another bag and paid €16.00. The sale person said that they are hoping this will be the last price increase for a few months.
I paid €12.50 for a bag of Ennis layers mash on Friday but was also told that prices were going up again. It has gone up a euro a bag in the last 6 weeks. I was paying €11 for it last year. Horse feed has gone up €80 a ton in the last two months and is due to increase. Time to ensure that there is no waste and that the dickie birds and rodents are not getting their fill.
I agree Rhona, no waste and definitely no little creatures eating it. Today's plan is to repair, replace any of the green mesh covering the gravelled walk-in pens to keep starling etc out. On Sunday morning two starling were in the enclosed run - >:P
